Truterra and Winfield United Team Up to Demystify Regenerative Ag
Author: Truterra
According to Google Trends, “regenerative” is now the “most searched” term related to agriculture. The topic draws intense interest from consumers, farmers and industry members looking to improve soil health for generations to come. Yet, as interest has accelerated, so has the need for education and understanding around the path to regenerative practices.
To begin addressing these questions, Truterra and Winfield United hosted farmers, ag retailers, conservationists, company employees, industry partners, consumer experts, and food industry professionals to the inagural Regenerative Soil Field Day, at the Winfield United Answer Plot in Vincent, Iowa. The event offered attendees an opportunity to learn and collaborate, while sharing perspective on how regenerative practices will evolve. As Dustin Hoffmann, of Iowa Agribusiness radio network, summarized “[Regenerative agriculture] is essentially that classic way of farming, but with the addition of new technology.”
Laura Kowalski, Global Sustainability Manager at Primient, attended the sessions and shared, “the event gave us a hands-on opportunity to hear directly from growers, retailers and other partners sharing the journey towards sustainable agriculture. Across the day we learned about best practices, emerging tools, and trends and, importantly, the considerations and decisions at the farm level that drive positive change. We are excited and proud to be part of this partnership, working together towards regenerative growing practices across our supply chain.”
Many who attended the event commented on the rare opportunity it offered for collaboration, from field to fork. Kyle Krier, a grower and member of Truterra’s Grower Advisory Committee, shared, “They did an excellent job of planning things and having a mix of events and demonstrations to connect with those on the ag side but also on the CPG side. I hope there are more events like this that encourages more contact with CPGs at the farm so we can find ways to help one another progress with things like cover crops and carbon.”
Truterra and Winfield United look forward to future opportunities to bring these diverse stakeholders together as regenerative practices grow from theory to practice.
