Truterra Dips into Dairy with Launch of Summer Programs

Arden Hills, Minn., Aug. 15, 2024 – Truterra, a leading agricultural sustainability business that works with farmers to help improve the environmental impact of agricultural production while working to create incremental financial benefits for famers, today announced its first-ever programs specifically for dairy producers.

The 2024 Truterra® dairy soils carbon programs reward pre-qualified dairy producers who adopt sustainable farming practices on the crops they use for dairy feed – including silage and alfalfa. Sustainable practices include the use of cover crops, strip-till or no-till to improve soil health and increase soil carbon levels.

The programs are supported by leading dairy companies including Land O’Lakes, Bel Brands and Dairy Farmers of America (DFA). Eligibility is open to both new and long-term practice adopters, and participants are eligible via invitation through sponsoring companies.

2024 Truterra® Field Data Management Program

• Rewards eligible farmers for providing field management data on their 2024 corn or soybean crop, while offering supply shed insights to sponsors.
• The program is available to eligible farmers in select counties in Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Minnesota.
• Provides a critical entry point for farmers at the start of their sustainability journeys.

2025 Truterra® Financial Assistance – a USDA-Supported Program

• Supports eligible farmers’ conversion to strip/no-till and/or the addition of cover crops.
• The program provides financial incentives (up to 500 acres per farmer for first time implementation on those fields for crop year 2025), funded under the USDA Partnerships for Climate Smart Commodities grant.
• Available to farmers in all U.S. states (except Alaska, Hawaii and New Mexico).

2024 Truterra® Early Adopter – a USDA-Supported Program

• Rewards eligible farmers who made the transition to strip/no-till before crop year 2015.
• The program includes soil sampling and data collection on select fields, which will contribute to a publicly available soil health study conducted by the Soil Health Institute.
• Available to farmers in eligible counties in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa and Missouri.
• This is the first of three launches for this program and will total 800,000 acres. 
   

What’s more, eligible farmers may have the ability to stack a publicly and privately funded program within the same field to explore their level of financial opportunity.
