We’ve been hard at work, see industry insights, our accomplishments with our partners to provide organizations a standard in sustainable practices.
Farmers and agricultural retailers across the nation are implementing regenerative agriculture initiatives that aim to foster the long-term health of their soil and land. Truterra recently recognized several change makers from our network at our Partners in Excellence Summit in Hollywood, Florida. We hope you’ll find them as inspiring as we do. All award winners are active Truterra® network providers or current Truterra® program participants. The information included was provided by the nominator and may highlight activities outside the scope of current Truterra program offerings.
Tim and his wife Lori, who farm in Dubuque County, Iowa, and work with Innovative Ag Services as their Truterra network provider, have been instrumental in promoting sustainability. By sharing his experiences, Tim has helped many farmers succeed in their conservation efforts, and this award honors his dedication to conservation agriculture.
Brad Hagen, a multi-year Truterra participant, continues to demonstrate a willingness to try new conservation practices and share his experiences to help others learn. By working with his Truterra network provider, Central Farm Services, he is able to leverage technology and test a variety of new practices on his Minnesota farm, including cover crop and tillage trials and comparing fertilizer efficiency. Brad uses enzymes, biologicals, and manure to enhance nutrient availability for plants. His goal is to balance soil bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and beneficial nematodes to improve soil health and maximize crop nutrients.
Greenpoint Ag is an example of a company committed to conservation farming, both in the field and in the sustainability marketplace. They are doing great work pursuing new management techniques in specialty crops such as cotton and peanuts, where conservation and sustainability practices are less established. In summer 2024, Greenpoint Ag worked with local farmers Myron and Laura Johnson to host a field day in Dothan, Alabama. In addition, Greenpoint Ag is blazing their own trail with the AccuField platform, used for farmer data management, and working closely with Truterra to pursue new customer connections inside and out of the food and agriculture industry.
Evan Brehm is an expert at helping farmers navigate conservation practice adoption and maintenance while keeping productivity front of mind. As a highly engaged conservation agronomist and valuable resource for farmers in Linn, Benton, and surrounding counties in Iowa, he is able to offer his expertise and knowledge of programs and technology tools to help farmers adopt new practices and maximize their funding opportunities. To impact the broader Linn Coop customer base, Evan provides hands-on conservation agriculture educational experiences for continuous learning.
Iowa-based ag retailer Pro Cooperative is committed to farmer outreach and education on conservation practices and program enrollments. They have shown remarkable growth in Truterra program enrollments. Their efforts resulted in an impressive increase from zero acres enrolled in Truterra programs in 2023 to over 150,000 acres in 2024. They have d over 90 field trials to demonstrate conservation practices and ensure success. Notably, their trials focused on nitrogen management to keep groundwater clean and healthy.
